8. Lancaster's Blacksmith Shop Site

Blacksmiths played an essential role in early farming communities. Curling smoke rising from the blacksmith’s forge was a common sight, and the rhythmic sounds of metal being hammered were a familiar part of life. Farmers brought every sort of implement to be repaired, serviced, modified, and sharpened. Many blacksmiths were also farriers who hammered and shod horse shoes.
