5. Broke Public School

In 1876 the current school house and teacher’s residence were constructed ready for an enrolment of 36 children. Many of the children travelled to school by horse from neighbouring farms, and a young girl, Kathleen McInerney who rode her pony four miles to school each day, received an attendance medal in 1943 for never missing a single day in all of her school years!! The current students learn viticulture, assisted by Margan’s Wines.
